Planning a trip to Caddo Lake?
Be sure to visit Captain Ron's Gator Park, Petting Zoo and Botanical Gardens!
Stand on our viewing deck and watch us feed the alligators or feed them yourself with gator food provided by our staff.
Our zoo has a variety of small exotic animals from around the world including African Pygmy Goats, Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs, Peacocks, Coatimundi from Central America, an African spurred tortoise from the Sahara Desert, an Alpaca (domesticated species of South American camelid), rabbits and many exotic species of chickens including soft feathered Silkies, Araucanas from Brazil which lay blue and green eggs and many others.
The Gator Park & Petting Zoo is surrounded by our beautiful botanical gardens where you could see more then 65 varieties of tropical and local plants, fruits and flowers. You will see how Capt. Ron has taken a hobby and a love of plants and landscaping and turned it into a peaceful, beautiful paradise.
The gator pond is a natural draw to many of the 217 species of birds that make their home on Caddo Lake and surrounding area during the summer, some migrating here from as far as Central America. The small island in the gator pond is home to a colony of Little Green Herons that migrate to this area, lay their beautiful blue eggs and then raise their hatch-lings as we watch them grow to adulthood. Not being birders ourselves we are unable to identify many of the species that stop by, but never the less enjoy watching them. The gator observation deck is a great place to observe all the birds that visit us.
We have free picnic area with grill and affordable lodging for your pleasure. Stay at Lazy Gator Lodge and have fun feeding animals and petting them.
